IFAB Ban Technology In Football Period

Last year the Premier League approached Reading with the view of testing Hawkeye in football.

Keith Hackett believes that the technology was a roaring success and is surprised by the decision of the ‘International Football Association Board.'(IFAB)

Reading were recently awarded a phantom goal by linesman Nigel Bannister at Watford. Replays clearly showed that the goal was not actually a goal and had not gone anywhere near the goal.

Hackett said, ‘ My disappointment is that the IFAB would not allow the experiment to continue, let alone allow the Premier League to use it.’

He continued, ‘I saw the experiment at Reading football club. It was a really, really impressive piece of equipment.’

He went on to say that financially it was not an expensive piece of equipment. The referee didn’t even need a tv screen or video technology because in milliseconds the equipment said to him ‘goal’.

In today’s sport, tennis and cricket are the two leading ball sports that use Hawkeye technology. Both would be in serious trouble if the rules were changed to ban it.

Dr Paul Hawkings can not understand the delay in using his equipment. It has shown how accurate it is and even has the backing of the referees union.

How blinkered can FIFA be? They have the chance to rule in favour of something that will improve the refereeing decisions immediately.

It seems incredible to me that FIFA generl secretary Jerome Valcke can say, ‘The door is closed. The decision was not to go ahead with technology at all.’

So FIFA has said carry on cheating to the likes of Thiery Henry and his ilk, and keep mucking up to the refereeing morons who fail to see what a whole stadium can see.

So now, even though both the Scottish and English FA’s asked for it the door has now been closed.

Maybe we should start a breakaway confederation and see just how many of the World associations join.

I know it will never happen because we have nobody with the balls to start the fight.
