Interest from France intensifies for £10.8m-rated Southampton player – report

|

Sofiane Boufal could be on the verge of ending his time at Southampton, according to Foot Mercato.

They claim Nice and Bordeaux are interested in signing the Morocco international and are willing to pay £10million.

He joined Saints from Lille in 2016 and went on to make 50 league appearances for the club, but played last season on loan at Spanish outfit Celta Vigo.

While at the La Liga club he scored three goals and provided four assists from his 35 league outings.

He was representing his country at this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations until they were eliminated by Benin in a penalty shoot-out.

It was believed Marseille were interested but their offer of a loan with an option to buy was rejected by Saints, who are looking to move the player on permanently.

The attacker has two years remaining on his contract at Southampton and is valued at £10.8million by Transfermarkt.

He may feel it is the right time to leave the south coast if first-team opportunities may be rare next season.

And with Saints already signing Moussa Djenepo, who plays in the same position as Boufal, it is difficult to argue his long-term future will be at St Mary’s.
