Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford was a largely disappointing day for travelling Southampton fans as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took another victory.
Despite opening the scoring through a sublime Yan Valery effort as he opened his professional account on the day to give us the advantage, Manchester United hit back hard, leaving James Ward-Prowse to almost secure us a point.
Having waved away pretty much any decision that he could give in our favour, matchday referee Stuart Attwell predictably awarded them a penalty late on, presumably to ensure they took the points after re-establishing their lead.
Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier is rarely slow in coming forward to give his thoughts, and this game was no different, and he was not so subtly focusing on the performance of the man in charge of the game.

Few fans will disagree with him in my humble, and the sad thing is ‘referee has shocker’ at Old Trafford is hardly a new thing, yet the authorities do little about it.
MLT has probably got more chance of receiving a Football Association charge than referee’s have of being held accountable.
