Saints may have found a new young star in wide-man Lloyd Isgrove who has been training with the first team and gaining some valuable pitch time to boot.

Talking to ‘Saints Player’ Lloyd Isgrove says his goal in Saints’ win over Beşiktaş was the perfect way to end a memorable few weeks for the young winger.

I’m playing games, which is all I’ve wanted to do since I came here.’

The 20-year-old scored the third-and-final goal in Saturday evening’s win over the Turkish side at the Stadion Villach Lind in Austria.

Our youngster has done well when on the pitch and is surely heading towards a time when he will become a regular in the first team starting eleven or at the very least a match day regular squad member.

The Wales Under-21 international penned a new contract on the morning of Saints’ departure for Spain, and he says he has enjoyed the level of progress he has been making of late.

Last season he suffered some injuries which held up his progress but he says that the physio team has helped him enormously. ‘I’ve come a long way since Christmas,’ I had injuries last year, but Radders (Senior Physiotherapist Matt Radcliffe) has helped me so I’m a lot stronger and fitter now.’

Lloyd signed a new contract on the day that the squad left for Spain and is obviously a very contented young man. Long may he continue in that frame of mind as he cements a place in our squad and then becomes a regular starter.

Lloyd has his article on the Saints Os which you can read by clicking here
