Southampton manager Mark Hughes held his pre-game press conference ahead of the Crystal Palace tie this weekend.

Having secured EFL Cup progress with victory over Brighton in midweek, it’s back to Premier League action on Saturday as we travel to Selhurst Park looking for our first victory and three points of the 2018/19 season.

Got To Be Two Upfront For Southampton vs Crystal Palace Hasn’t It

Having predicted yesterday, well guessed, for a preference of Charlie Austin and Danny Ings up front to give us a front two to go at Palace, Hughes revealed to saintsfc that on-loan Ings was being monitored as he had picked up a foot problem, and that was why he didn’t feature in midweek.

Hughes believes he will likely be fit, but we all know what Sod’s Law says.

If he is out though it’s got to be a chance for Sam Gallagher or Manolo Gabbiadini.

As you can tell from the above reactions on social media, most were trying to keep their humour following a difficult start to the year as we need that first league win to lighten the pressure.

With his injury background over the last few seasons though some will just be naturally sceptical until we see him again, and hopefully, that will be Saturday.
