Saints manager George Burley has admitted that he will need to “wheel and deal” this summer to make further signings ahead of the new season.

Despite the departures of Gareth Bale, Martin Cranie and the expected loss of Leon Best to Coventry, Saints still need to secure further funds to strengthen further after the signing last week of Marek Saganowski.

But Burley is still optimistic. He told the Daily Echo, “It doesn’t mean we can’t go forward, but to do so we will have to wheel and deal. That’s the situation we are in because we have not got any new funds in.’
