Over the weekend Southampton confirmed that the speculated transfer of Jay Rodriguez to West Bromwich Albion had now been completed.

During the course of the week speculation grew that a deal was close with Tony Pulis again returning for the striker after previous attempts, but this time we were ready to deal and it brings the curtain down on a five year stay at St Mary’s.

The fee was speculated to be in the region of £15million but officially it’s undisclosed.

Having joined from Burnley back in 2012, he leaves with 126 appearances to his name with a return of 35 goals.

He has plenty of high points from his time with us, especially his England call up and debut but undoubtedly the serious knee injury he picked up has held him back and hopefully a change of scenario will now see him get back to his best.
