Lee is one of the top players in Asia and could be a big plus if we can get him to sign for us as we try to climb into the Premiership.

Lee, who is a leading light in Asian football, is training with the club at Staplewood whilst the application for the work permit that would allow him to permanently join the club is reviewed.

Lee is heralded as one of the most revered talents in the J-League and has been capped ten times by his country of birth.

Last year he scored the winning goal for Japan against Australia in the final of the Asia Cup.

If his work permit arrives safely Lee will be our first player from Japan. it is reported in Japan that Lee will be on £800,000 per annum. If Saints are promoted this will rise to £1.25m
