The scouser knows that he has only two more games to earn himself a new contract. He told saints Player that he knew plenty of the players were in the same position.

He added that the manager knows he wanted to stay but no discussions have as yet been started.

There are a lot of players about to run out of contract and many will be expecting to get the push. I myself am not convinced that Semi has done enough to earn a new contract.

Semi admits that it is a bit unsettling not knowing what the future holds for him. He does say that he feels he has done quite well and that he feels he has omproved his concentration since arriving at St Mary’s.

To me that has been his biggest problem. As a right back his job primarily, has to be ensuring nobody gets down his flank. At least it is in my book.

At times he has looked quite good going forward but all too often I have been left petrified by the size of the spaces he leaves when switching off.

He is not a complete no hoper but I think it will depend on whether Alan Pardew thinks he can keep helping Semi to improve. If not then he will be gone.
