With Rochdale visiting us on Saturday the team has to perform a minor miracle to erase the memory of our Swindon defeat. That defeat brought back too clearly the memories of how we were not so very long ago.

The 3-0 defeat to Swindon has certainly knocked the wind out of our sails. Following on closely from Alan Pardew leaving as it has, it appeared almost as though the team had no heart.

Before the game Kelvin felt that the team was up for it and fancied returning for another visit to the hallowed Wembley turf.

He admitted that we didn’t play at all and looked out of sorts. He admitted that neither as a team or individually was there a decent performance.

I tend to disagree because Kelvin made a couple of really good saves before Swindon took the game away from us. He did what he always does and gave his all for the cause.

The fact that everything that has been going on has had such a drastic effect on the team is a little surprising and disappointing.

I had hoped that the lads would have come out with all guns blazing in response and to say we are still Alan’s team. They didn’t which was a pity but they can still put matters right.

Rochdale at St Mary’s is another day and another game. Hopefully the team will produce a performance that will ease our concerns.

Speaking of the performance Kelvin did admit that they prepared as best they could for the game. Maybe it came too soon after Alan leaving he said, but then he said that they now had plenty of time to get ready for Rochdale.

He spoke of the fans and said that he felt they were 1000% behind the team and were willing them on.

He also said that there any number of people that want the chance to manage the club and that who ever gets the job will understand the wishes of the fans as well.

I hope that he is right because all we want is to see a team playing with heart and the will to win.
