With a largely dull and boring September international break now behind us, Southampton can fully continue their preparations for our next Premier League outing in the 2019/20 campaign and the fixture list sees us make the trip to Bramall Lane to face newly promoted Sheffield United.

With Austrian manager Ralph Hasenhuttl seeing his side return four points from our opening four games, the aim this weekend will be to pick up our second win of the season but if we are to do that, we’ll have to do it without Nathan Redmond.

The 25-year-old attacker picked up a knock in the EFL Cup clash with Fulham back in August and although he is making good progress in his recovery, this game still comes too quickly for him to return to Hasenhuttl’s thoughts.

Speaking to saintsfc about the ankle problem, the gaffer explained.

“The bad news is that Nathan is still not available, but he is making progress. With Moussa Djenepo it looks better; we aren’t sure whether it is enough to play this weekend. We’ll have to look. He can bring us something special, he showed it in the few minutes he’s played so far that he can make a difference. The chances are not that big, but let’s see. I don’t want to take too much risk because it’s a very busy September. Michael Obafemi is in training sessions as well as Ryan Bertrand, they are both options. It has been good to regroup over the break, we’re looking forward.”

Kevin Danso remains suspended for this one as well, but at least the injury list is improving and we have a few more options back, with more soon to follow hopefully.
