Manager Ronald Koeman has said that he knows Stoke City are going to make life difficult for us this weekend.

Whilst we go into the game with hopes of a Champions League or Europa League spot and that fight being on for us, Stoke come into the match with no pressure on them whatsoever other than finishing as high as they can this season.

Speaking to saintsfc ahead of the game, Koeman said that with their home fans behind them, they might not have pressure on the game but they will certainly be driven on to pick up another three points.

‘I think they have good professional players and they play at home and that means they would like to win for the fans. They will do the same what they would normally in a very important situation for the team. We know they are in the middle of the table, they can`t go down and they can`t normally go to European football. They are professionals who always give 100 per cent and even more at home because you know if you play at home you like to give the fans something and that is always winning.’

Koeman goes on to say that we know how tough it will be with it being the third time we have played Stoke so far this season, and we know we can expect another tough physical battle.

‘In both games we won but it`s really difficult because they are strong, they are physical. They are a strong team and they play very direct football and that`s always difficult.’

Having talked about Stoke’s physical nature though, Koeman did go on to say that as the season has drawn on he feels opposite number Mark Hughes has continued changing the way they do play and whilst physical and direct remains strongly in their locker, they do look to ping the ball around more now.

‘It depends, normally if Crouch is playing. If he is not they don`t play long ball so much. If he is playing they have more options to play direct football but sometimes they try to build up. They always have a solution to play the long ball because that`s one of the qualities of them, that helps them cause big problems for the opponent to defend.’
