Adam Lallana scored Southampton’s only goal in a 2-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace.

Michael Byrne was also sent off in Southampton’s second reserves defeat of the season.

Henderson told the official site: ‘Although we were disappointed to lose, I was very pleased with the performance by a very young side. We were up against a more experienced line-up but we were the better team for much of the game.’
