Grant Holt helped Norwich to a close, hard fought win over Oldham. This win plus Leeds drawing at Huddersfield means Norwich have opened their lead by two more points.Leeds were held to a 2-2 draw by Huddersfield. Gary Roberts scoring 5 minutes from time in a thrilling local derby.
Colchester failed to take advantage of Leeds draw as they also dropped points. Bristol Rovers won 3-1 and kept their own faint hopes of a play off place alive.
Swindon and MK Dons failed to score this weekend as they also both dropped points. Swindon drawing at Leyton Orient and MK Dons losing 1-0 at Yeovil. Paul Ince will be looking over his shoulder now as the Dons have clubs below them sensing a chance to close the gap with them.
Charlton had a fortunate last minute injury time goal help them win at Southend. Southend fought hard and were again undone in injury time as they had been on the previous tuesday.
Millwall also won thus joining Huddersfield on points. Their 1-0 win over Hartlepool keeping the ‘pool in the danger zone near the bottom.
Carlisle beat Gillinham 2-0 with two Ian Harte goals and Brighton scored their first ever home win under Gus Poyet. They beat Exeter 2-0 to continue their fight against the drop.
Stockport County made a very good try at losing after taking a 4-0 lead. They allowed Wycombe back into the game and had to hang on desperately for a narrow 4-3 victory. Both teams are still rooted to the bottom of the league.
Best performance of the day though has to be Southampton’s 5-1 win over Walsall. Even more impressive when you see Walsall had just won at Leeds prior to their trip to St Mary’s. Walsall scored first in the 3rd minute before Saints totally outplayed them.
