Southampton have confirmed that club legend Matt Le Tissier has now officially been appointed as one of our club ambassadors.
Having been voted by fans as our greatest ever player a few years back, MLT is well treasured at Southampton following his lengthy playing career with us and although these days he’s probably best known for his work on Sky Sports of a match day, he’s rarely far from St Mary’s Stadium when the opportunity arises and the fact he wasn’t made an official ambassador prior to this has always looked like an oversight in the eyes of many.

Having Championed Southampton at most opportunities already, his new role will see him take a more active part in our community work and as you can imagine, the news has gone over very well with fans who took to social media.
@mattletiss7 has been performing this role for free for years and doing a damn fine job so makes absolute sense he gets recompensed for it. No finer saint @southamptonFC.

Is he not an ambassador for Southampton already? It’s a bit like formally announcing the sun will rise every morning!
