“Let’s See Who Is In Front At The End Of The Season” – Saints Boss Maintains His Faith

|

With Southampton heading back from our warm weather training camp in Tenerife as manager Ralph Hasenhuttl looks to maximise the short break we had in the fixture list to really get some pointers across to the side, the Austrian is clearly backing the group to achieve more by the close of the campaign.

With our unbeaten run coming to an end in the last match against Cardiff City as we lost 2-1, we did slip back into the relegation places and late goals are obviously an issue for us now.

Speaking to the Daily Echo after what he felt was a productive spell out training, he felt the battle was between ourselves and Cardiff City and with 12 matches to go in the season, he was backing the side to be above them when it counted.

“We were five points behind them, now we are one point behind them. Let’s see who is in front at the end of the season.”

Strong words and in many ways you wouldn’t expect him to say anything differently, but with recent hiccups I think most fans will accept the curve of improvement has been good enough to see us clear. A couple of quick wins will no doubt help though.

Arsenal may or may not be the right side for that resurgence to begin again, but we can certainly show improvement as we’ve taken results like that before.
