Southampton’s Lloyd James has withdrawn from Brian Flynn’s Welsh Under 21 squad for Tuesday night’s game with Northern Ireland.

The 20-year-old was set to join up with the rest of the squad ahead of the game, but he reported his injury to the Saints’ physio this morning.

Although the injury isn’t considered serious, necessary precautions have been taken to make sure that the injury doesn’t worsen.

With that in mind, Saints contacted the Welsh FA where they advised them to allow James to remain in Southampton to make a full recovery.

Despite the injury, Saints are optimistic that James will be fit for Saturday’s clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
