The equivalent ‘red tops’ both in print and online are in overdrive this week talking about Dejan Lovren being on the verge of a move to Liverpool for a fee as low as £16million or as high as £25million – accuracy doesn’t seem to count when filling column inches – in fact I’m amazed nobody has yet claimed it’s a done deal.

Anyway, manager Ronald Koeman told the press following our Swindon pre season friendly, that despite reports saying Liverpool had submitted another bid, the club are actually yet to hear from them this past week.

‘We have had no bid from Liverpool for Lovren, that is the situation. If that does not change, he will continue to play at Southampton. We knew there is a lot of interest in our players, I think that is normal. But we have to wait, we work on the team.’

No doubt for some outlets that will be confirmation we haven’t heard back from Liverpool because we’ve already accepted an offer!
