With Bolton possibly set to rest a few of their key players it is hoped that a full strength Saints side could grab a much needed morale boost with a win.

Alan Pardew told the Saints player that he feels the need to instil a winning mentality. To date we have wone one drawn one and lost one and he says that for us that is not a good enough return.

Last season we lost to Birmingham at the same stage of the competition and were decidedly unlucky. AP still feels that it is a game that we should have won.

He also stressed the importance of being able to play full on for the whole of the 90 minutes. Not as we have done so far, just for the 20 or so minutes when we have been superb.

Adam Lallana is still a bit pained with his knee injury but so far is coping well. AP is hopeful that it will clear up and not need an operation.

Rickie Lambert has needed match play to get him up to speed and needs the Bolton game to aid his full recovery. he is close to peak fitness and should soon be fully tuned and back to his best.

AP did say how well the new scouting regime is doing and how it has already produced results with the signing of Brazilian Guilerme do Prado.

If his international clearance comes through on time he could well play a part tonight against Bolton.

Alan seemed particularly pleased with the acquisition of ‘Guly’ and has high hopes for him. He is an attacking midfielder who can pass and shoot. He will give us more options going forward Alan thinks and who are we to argue.
