Southampton youngster Jason McCarthy yesterday made the switch to Championship side Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.

The 21 year old made one senior appearance for Southampton, back in the game against Crystal Palace in December 2014, and he was our Under 21 captain when we took Premier League Cup success back in 2015.

His move to Oakwell sees him sign a three year deal and wishing him all the best of success for the future, our Academy graduate now looks to make the step up to the Championship in 2017/18.

Following a successful loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers, making 39 appearances and being named their Player of the Season, he spent 2016/17 out with League One Walsall.

During his time at the Bescot he played every minute of league and cup action for the Saddlers, scoring five goals as he went on again to win the Player of the Season award.

Best of luck McCarthy.
