With all the speculation surrounding the clubs tracking the services of Southampton Academy graduate Sam Gallagher this summer, it was long believed that despite interest from elsewhere, Blackburn Rovers had the upper hand.

Report Suggests Clubs Agree Fee For 23 y/o Southampton Academy Graduate

Yesterday it was believed that we had now struck an agreement on the fee with the Ewood Park outfit and the expectation was a deal would go through for around the £5million mark and it definitely made sense given the 23-year-old knows the club well having had a successful loan spell out with them back in the 2016/17 campaign where he scored 12 times in 39 starts and eight substitute showings.

On Saturday afternoon, Sky Sports built on that speculation and stated that they believed he had now successfully passed his medical and agreed terms with Blackburn, and he’s clearly rejected the advances of Wihan Athletic and Brentford who reportedly joined the hunt for him too late.

Whether an announcement comes this evening or not, it’s surely only a matter of time now.

Update –

That’ll teach me to be preoccupied when I’ve timered something. The deal has now been completed and confirmed. Good luck Sam!
