‘Might as well hand over the trophy’ – Tons of Saints fans are confident about winning silverware

It is amazing what the power of a derby win can do to supporters, even when drawn against seemingly the toughest team in a competition.

After beating Portsmouth 4-0, Southampton discovered last night that their opponents for the fourth round of the League Cup would be none other than Manchester City, the reigning champions of the trophy as well as the current Premier League holders.

Yet despite facing a game against Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium, plenty of Saints supporters on social media were still reeling from the high of beating Pompey earlier in the week, and were seemingly confident in Southampton getting a result over City.

As previous results from 11v11 show, Southampton have had a fairly difficult time against City over the past few years, losing their past five games against the Manchester side.
