Yesterday evening the draw was made for the third round of the 2018/19 FA Cup and Southampton have been given an away trip to Frank Lampard’s Derby County.
In fairness, most Southampton fans are rightly focussing on our Premier League campaign and given we find ourselves struggling once again and in the relegation spots, few are excited or that bothered about a Cup run.

It could be argued it might be a welcome distraction when the Pride Park trip rolls around over the weekend of January 5th, or alternatively a good opportunity to build some confidence, so when December’s fixtures are out of the way and we see what kind of bounce the new gaffer brings, thoughts might change.
Can’t see saints causing any sort of upset there

With our home record mate we’re probably better drawn away????

Oh well. Absolutely no interest in the cup now

The above reactions to the draw were pretty predictable really although I must admit, some did make me smile given most fans seem to be relieved following the Mark Hughes news earlier in the day but whether that turn into optimism probably depends on who we appoint next.
