Saturday’s defeat has seemingly dampened the mood around Southampton after weeks of brilliant results for the south coast side, but there was a clear shining light from last weekend’s loss to Burnley.

Kyle Walker-Peters made his long-awaited debut for the Saints in horrendous conditions as Storm Dennis made its presence known as the rain and wind battered the south of England, yet the 22-year-old Tottenham loanee impressed in his first start for Southampton, with the defender playing 73 minutes and completing three dribbles as stats from WhoScored show.
And lots of Southampton fans on social media were pleased with what they saw from the fullback, with Walker-Peters’ performance exciting supporters about what else they can expect from the youngster for the remainder of the season.
Here’s what tons of Saints supporters had to say about Walker-Peters on Twitter…
Well played. horrible conditions and team to make a debut. confident on the ball and lively. more of the same please #COYR
