Sorry Saints Lose Again
With Portsmouth playing earlier this weekend, attentions fell to Portsmouth fans second favourite team, Saint’s opponents!
On this occasion that was Preston and as predicted former Ipswich boss
George Burley didn’t enjoy a happy day.
Against a backdrop of Boardroom resignations and infighting, Burley’s charges needed to step up the performance on the pitch. The club’s future hangs precariously as much-needed funding has failed to materialise and
he parachute payments the club have received since relegation are set to dry up.
But Preston were simply too good for Burley’s misfits, running away 3-1 with Premiership target Dave Nugent showing his class.
The result leaves Southampton languishing outside the playoff places, at a crucial time with a tough run of fixtures to come.
