Blackburn Rovers have long been linked with a move for Southampton Academy graduate Sam Gallagher this summer and for a while, it was believed that the Championship side were in pole position to secure the 23-year-old’s services.

Blackburn Step Up Their Chase For Southampton Academy Graduate

Having had a successful spell at Ewood Park back in the 2016/17 campaign, a return to them under Tony Mowbray did seem to make sense given how his game developed across that season, but with ongoing speculation linking Brentford’s Neal Maupay with a move to the Premier League, it’s now being claimed that the Griffin Park outfit have highly him as a potential replacement, especially if the rumoured £5million fee is accurate.

The Richmond and Twickenham Times have claimed that talks are now ongoing between both sides over a potential deal, but they continue to namecheck Blackburn and Wigan Athletic as having interest in him.

If we do have three clubs vying for his services it might push the price up a touch for us, which would be welcome as we look to overcome more recent transfer failures.
