New Southampton Signing Makes Incredibly Bold Claim – But Why Not Aim High

With Southampton’s lengthy chase for young striker Che Adams finally bearing fruit over the weekend as we announced his capture from Birmingham City for a believed £15million fee, fans were rightly delighted and the announcement from our social media team was as classy as ever.

With the 22-year-old having 22 goals to his name last season and seeing himself named in the Championship Team of the Year, he’s been on a good rise in the game following his days at non-league Ilkeston Town and if his signing interview is anything to go by, he certainly doesn’t lack confidence in his own talents.

Speaking to saintsfc with the ink dry on his contract, he’s obviously relishing the chance to test himself in the Premier League now.

“It was a massive season for me last year and obviously Southampton have picked up on that and added me into the squad. I’m delighted with that and I can’t wait to get going. It’s improved me a lot. The Championship is a very hard league and everyone wants one thing which is promotion. I’ve went (sic) through that stage and I found it difficult at times but I think I’ve really developed and learned a lot.”

Although it wasn’t covered by the OS coverage, it’s in the Youtube fuller interview, he certainly is aiming for the stars.

“Southampton’s a huge club. Obviously, we want to win the league. Obviously, it’s a lot to ask for. But you have to set yourself new targets to hit. And with the squad here that I’ve seen from last season, there’s no reason that we can’t win the Premier League.”

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves eh!
