Nigel Wants Momentum Next Season

Next season though Nigel Adkins is hoping to continue the momentum that we were able to produce on the run-in to the finish of the npower League One season.

Finishing second as they did, Southampton will be hoping that the form shown in winning 7 of the last eight games will be shown from the beginning of the new season.

Nigel has admitted that he will be looking to bring in new players but insists that there will not be a massive turnover of players.

He feels that we have a good squad and says ‘The good thing is that we don’t have to go and bring a whole team in, but as everyone will do, there will be additions to the squad of players.’

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us hang on to all of the players we feel are essential to our cause, as we have the strength nowadays to fight against the big money teams.

Our fans will all be eager to see who we bring in, but know now that the club will only talk about possible targets once they have signed.

One good thing said was how important Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana will be to the team as they continue to develop.

Both have been called up for possible international duty over the summer, and Nigel is already preparing for the way that players like these will be protected ready for the new season.

Nigel has had a remarkably good season since arriving with the Saints and I believe he has enough about him to ensure we manage a better start to a season come August.
