Two of Southampton’s home fixtures have been changed for TV coverage, the club have announced.

The ties at St Mary’s against Bournemouth and Manchester United have been chosen for live broadcast.

The August 31st fixture against the Red Devils will be shown on BT Sport and will kick-off at 12.30pm.

The game against south coast rivals Bournemouth has been moved from Saturday 21st September, and will now take place the night before, Friday 20th September, and will be live on Sky Sports, with kick-off at 8pm.

In the same fixtures last season both games ended in draws, but the two matches produced 10 goals combined.

The tie against Manchester United finished 2-2, with all four goals coming in the first half after Saints went two goals in front. The match against Bournemouth ended 3-3 with Callum Wilson equalising for the visitors with four minutes remaining.

Last season Southampton struggled for goals they only managed 45 all season, and the front trio of Shane Long, Danny Ings, and Charlie Austin only managed a combined total of 14 league goals.

Which makes it even odder that they scored five just in those two matches. Their goals per game at home all season was calculated at 1.4 by WhoScored.com.
