Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The report suggests Diego Simeone is looking to replace Lucas Hernandez, who has joined Bayern Munich and Antonio Conte is scanning leagues he knows as he attempts to overhaul his squad.

The report also suggests Southampton are willing to give 23-year-old Matt Targett more opportunities and make the Englishman their first-choice left-back next season.

He is a product of the Saints academy and follows Wayne Bridge, Luke Shaw and Gareth Bale as coming through the system and playing left-back for the club.

Part of the report states Southampton are willing to let Bertrand leave and will try and cash in on him as the 29-year-old only has two years remaining on his contract.

But some Southampton fans believe Targett is not good enough and took to social media to voice their opinions…

    We need to be stronger this season not weeker.
