It was being reported earlier today that Norwich City youngster James Maddison has snubbed Southampton’s interest in signing him and had instead opted to join Leicester City.

Yesterday, reports suggested that both Leicester and Southampton had seen bids accepted by Norwich for the England Under 21 international and the rumour mill suggested that we were in pole position to secure his future.

Southampton Agree Fee With Midfielder But Face Competition From Leicester City

Therein lies the problem of sticking an article in the timer function as by the time it was actually published, it seems there’s been a complete u-turn and it was being suggested he now favoured the King Power Stadium as a destination for Premier League football in the season of 2018/19.

Sky Sports reported that the 21-year-old had chosen a move back to his native Midlands area to be closer to his family home in Coventry, and obviously Leicester fits that bill better than the South Coast.

A fee of £25million is now being spoken about and it was understood he was undergoing a medical and finalising personal terms today.

This now seems to be a done deal and is a shame as Maddison could’ve thrived at Southampton given the younger players we have at the club, but you can’t win them all can you!
