“Now Imminent” – Journalist Provides An Update On Southampton’s Championship Striker Chase

|

Speculation linking us with a move for Birmingham City striker had gone quiet in recent days, and it looked like we may have targetted David Okereke as an alternative but on Saturday morning reports on the Southampton rumour mill began circulating that a deal was now close.

The Telegraph’s Sam Wallace took to social media to provide an update on Matt Targett on Saturday and with a claim that this deal would go through at some point this weekend, he later provided an update on our chase for 22-year-old Adams and he believed that a deal had now been struck at around the £15million mark and again, an announcement on that score was supposed to be imminent.

It seems those that thought our claimed interest in Okereke was mostly a smokescreen to put pressure on Birmingham to do a deal may well have been correct given the fan chat about the difference in prices between both of the young strikers.

If Adams is announced this weekend, we’ll then find out if the Okereke interest was in any way genuine and we were looking at him as an additional option.
