The former Italia 90 shot-stopper turned 70 this week, and Southampton marked the occasion with a happy birthday post on their social media accounts for Shilton, who made well over 1,000 professional appearances in his 30-year-long footballing career as numbers from Soccer Base show

Shilton played over 200 times for the Saints from 1982 to 1987 after a successful spell with Nottingham Forest where the record-England appearance maker won the European Cup twice with Brian Clough.
