Italian striker Manolo Gabbiadini certainly split the Southampton fanbase during his spell with us, and although the goals had dried up, many put that down to his service and were sad to see him go when he moved on in the January transfer window.
Having arrived from Napoli for a reported £14.6million back in the January 2017 window, the 27-year-old departed for an undisclosed fee for Sampdoria in mid-January, and the left with 29 starts, 31 substitute showings with a return of 12 goals in total.
With Southampton strikers out injured of simply continuing to misfire as manager Ralph Hasenhuttl looks to see us move out of the relegation places once again this year, the fact that Gabbiadini has started to rediscover his goalscoring form has led to the inevitable reaction on social media.
Despite his early promise, fans saw plenty of bad games from him so maybe he just wasn’t suited to the Premier League – whatever the truth might be there though, if he continues finding the net back in Serie A, more and more will see the sale as another stick to beat the club with given our downward trend in recent years.

Gabbiadini comes on in the 75th minute @Inter and scores one of most Gabbi goals you will see. #Poacher played a free-flowing 10 role was something I wish he could have had the chance to take on at #SaintsFC.
