One Southampton Man Must Start Against Swansea

Having been cheated out of all three points in the weekend’s tie at Goodison Park against Everton, Southampton now head into tonight’s clash with Swansea City knowing that Premier League survival ultimately sits on this match.

With both sides perched on 33 points for the campaign of 2017/18, victory for Southampton at the Liberty Stadium would effectively guarantee our safety with one game remaining.

Going into the final tie of the season with a three-point advantage over the Swans as well as a +7 better goal difference (as things stand) that would by rights see Mark Hughes’ side safe baring a complete meltdown for us against Manchester City and a very unlikely result for them against Stoke City.

It’s all to play for and in our hands and many feel a performance akin to Everton, without refereeing interventions, will see us take the win and all three points.

For fans, it’s clear that they believe one man was on fire in our last game and that he should be a guaranteed starter later tonight…step forward Nathan Redmond.

Redmond did, of course, open his account for the season against Everton – let’s hope he at least doubles it this evening.
