“Perfect Week” – Hasenhuttl Pleased With Austria Trip As New Signing Hits The Ground Running

|

With the Southampton first team squad out in Austria for our training camp as we continue preparations for the coming 2019/20 Premier League campaign, the squad have now got their first friendly under their belts as we took a 1-1 draw against SCR Altach the other day.

With the game being a good run out and plenty of fans being delighted to see new signing Che Adams get on the scoresheet in his non-competitive debut, Hasenhuttl took the opportunity to share the match minutes around switch all eleven players at the half time break to get a decent 45 minutes into as many as he could and with Altach being a week away from their season beginning properly, our gaffer was pleased with the test they gave us.

Speaking to saintsfc following the game to reflect on the week we had had in his homeland, Hasenhuttl picked up a couple of things he wasn’t that pleased with, but overall he described it as being a ‘perfect week’ as we continue stepping things up.

“It was an intense week, but finally at the end of it I have seen a few good things and a few things I didn’t like, so it was exactly the test I wanted, and with no injuries, so it was good. It was a perfect week, I think. We had fantastic facilities here, the weather was ok, the guys worked very hard and it was a very good atmosphere. Also with the last test against Altach, I’m happy.”

With Adams getting on the scoresheet, our Austrian gaffer also felt he could’ve had a hattrick on the day.

“Ché could have scored three times, I think. He was a little bit unlucky, but he made the first goal, which was important for him. He showed from the first moment on that he can help us next season, and I’m happy that he is with us.”

Should be a nice boost of confidence for him as he continues to settle into his new surroundings.
