Ryan Bertrand, Toby Alderweireld and James Ward-Prowse have all given brief Hull reactions following the two nil victory.

The interviews are all with saintsfc, so starting with Bertrand, he talked about an important three points for the side.

‘It was good to get a win and to keep the positive season going that we`ve had. It was a good win. It was good to get another clean sheet. Defensively we are very happy as a team as a whole, it was good to get a couple of goals this week as well.’

Bertrand says that despite Manchester City’s slump in form, he knows it’s still going to be a ‘big ask’ to catch them in the table, but all we can do as a team is try with six games remaining and then see where we are come the last game of the season.

‘We just have to keep going. We have six games left and the aim is to win them all and see where that leaves us. It wasn`t our best performance but we still managed to put in a solid display and win 2-0 and keep another clean sheet. We had to be patient.’

As for Alderweireld, his focus in his mini interview was on our much improved second half showing in the game.

‘I think first half wasn`t our best half of the season that we played. Easy passes went wrong and our organisation was not great but the second half was much better. We created chances and scored two times. I think we just had to play better second half and to have more quality on the ball to have more chances and be patient. Second half was much better than the first.’

He too commented on what the future may bring for us in terms of a European adventure next season.

‘We`re going to try as hard as we can. Next week is a very tough game with Stoke, after that we have Tottenham at home so we can make good progress, but we have to see game by game and next week is going to be tough.’

James Ward-Prowse offered more thoughts on his first Premier League goal for the club.

‘I took a few in training, we had a little match and one was awarded in training and I put that one away, so it was good to replicate it in the match. I think if you`re confident about the penalty you`re going to take then there`s no pressure. Straight away I felt the confidence. I know I can score now and hopefully I can get a few more before the end of the season.’

Ward-Prowse went on to say that the main thing of importance was obviously the three points and another victory to bounce back from the Everton disappointment.

‘The main thing is three points. After last week it was important to bounce back and it was good obviously to get a good win heading into the last six games.’
