With Southampton’s summer arrival Che Adams taking his opportunity to impress with a goal in our Austrian pre-season friendly against SRC Altach, fellow permanent arrival Danny Ings was in no mood to be upstaged as he helped himself to a brace in Saturday’s friendly at Deepdale against Preston North End.
“We Have Worked On A Few Things” – Hasenhuttl Enjoying Pre-Season As We Notch Up Our First Win
Whilst there was a huge element of fortune to his opening goal, he made no mistake as he connected with Ryan Bertrand’s cross on the stroke of halftime to give us the 2-1 advantage and secure his brace on the day, and the former Liverpool striker clearly enjoyed his run out as he spoke to saintsfc following the full-time whistle.
“We knew Preston were a good side and that it would be a test today. It was a good game to implement what we had been working on over the past couple of weeks and we showed that. We’re feeling fit, we’re getting better every game; we’re trying to put things into our game that the manager has been teaching us and the lads are working as hard as they can to do so.”
Onto the next one now as our preparations continue but given last season’s struggles, I think plenty of fans will be pleased to see both Adams and Ings get off the mark so quickly this summer as it can only do their confidence the world of good.
