“Polish Maldini” – Having Turned A Corner At Southampton, This Man Comes In For Huge Praise

|

23-year-old Polish international centre-half Jan Bednarek didn’t have the greatest first season at Southampton following his £5.7million from Lech Poznan back in the summer of 2017, and for a while it seemed that fans saw more in him than our managers.

After a slow start again in the Premier League campaign of 2018/19, he finally got himself up and running properly in December and he was certainly one of a number of players who got a second lease of life under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, ending the season as an effective ever present.

With plenty of Southampton fans expecting strengthening in the backline this summer, one face they are hoping to continue to see is Bednarek given his performances so far and the development he can still make.

With Southampton releasing a short video clip of some of his better moments for us at the back in 2018/19, fans were more than happy to heap the praise on him for the way he kept going, to ultimately end the season as one of our better performing players.
