With Southampton fans knowing that striker Charlie Austin was incredibly likely to move on this summer having fallen flat our of favour with new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl given his three goal return in the season of 2018/19, Aston Villa have been joined by three other clubs as having an interest in the 29-year-old.
I doubted the original speculation about Villa to be honest, but over the weekend The Sun kicked the rumours back to life but stated that West Bromwich Albion, Fulham and Crystal Palace were now tracking him.
Furthermore, they stated that there was an expectation that a deal would be struck for around the £8million mark.
Given his recent form, I can certainly see Palace being an option for him given their frontline and if any side is willing to spend £8million Southampton should definitely be snapping their hands off and any kind of bidding war does suit us here.
In terms of the report though it’s purely speculative and typical rumour mill fodder for this time of year.
