Reports in France have claimed that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl now has his eye on Nantes midfielder Valentin Rongier, but if we progress our interest in him we can expect competition from Lyon and possibly Aston Villa.
With the summer transfer rumour mill in full swing now this summer, it’s almost inevitable that new names will continue appearing in the media with the club having a supposed interest in them, but Rongier does seem to tick the boxes for Hasenhuttl given what he’s said already about players and what he looks for.
The 24-year-old has been at Nantes for his entire career and with 132 appearances under his belt for them since his breakthrough, he’s chipped in with ten goals and he is the Ligue 1 clubs’ captain. Whilst predominantly a central midfielder, statistics website Whoscored also tag him with filling in in both defensive and attacking midfield roles last season.
The Le Foot (via Sport Witness) report mentions a price of around 15million Euros to get a deal done.
This one might be interesting to keep an eye on.
