Report Claims Southampton Are Targeting Norwegian International For Summer Deal

|

With Southampton looking to strengthen over the summer, one of the many positions we know we need to improve on is the right back slot with Cedric Soares future severely in doubt at St Mary’s.

Having fallen out of favour given his form, Soares headed to Inter Milan but he hasn’t overly impressed so it looks unlikely they will do a permanent deal and we’ve seen Academy graduate Yan Valery step up brilliantly under manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Whether the Inter deal gets done or not, the expectation is we’ll move the Portuguese international on so we will need competition and cover for Valery and a report from Greek outlet Sdna.gr has claimed that we have an interest in Olympiacos defender Omar Elabdellaoui.

With talk of a 5million Euro fee to do a deal for the 27-year-old Norwegian international, it might not be a bad bit of business and he does have experience in England as I believe he came through Manchester City’s youth setup and he did spend the second half of the 2016/17 campaign on loan with Hull City.

Hull were relegated from the Premier League that season, but under Marco Silva they did rally in the second half of the year but the damage had already largely been done.

He is reportedly being tracked by Celtic and Leicester City as well, but maybe a name worth remembering.
