Southampton are reportedly in a tug of war this summer for Bristol City defender Adam Webster after he impressed during his first year at Ashton Gate in the campaign of 2018/19.

The 24-year-old centre-half arrived at Bristol City last summer for a reported £3.5million from former club Ipswich Town, and he impressed plenty in his 45 starting appearances and two substitute showings. He also chipped in with three goals, and he is versatile as he also made a couple of appearances in the defensive midfield role.

Over the weekend the Mirror claimed that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl had an interest in him this summer, but that he was also being tracked by the likes of Newcastle United, Watford and Burnley.

Although no price is offered as a potential fee by the outlet, they reference the recent deal that took Lloyd Kelly to Bournemouth (£13million) as presumably a guide when it comes to a ballpark fee for a deal to go through.
