Rumours linking Southampton winger Mohammed Elyounoussi with a departure before the end of the European transfer window aren’t new, and Besiktas as a potential destination has been a regular on the rumour mill.

Earlier in August, it was being claimed that Besiktas had now agreed terms with the player and just needed to strike a deal with Southampton and about a week later it was being said that they had done just that and a loan deal for the year would go through imminently for a reported fee of 500,000 Euros.

It appeared that a deal would be expected to be confirmed prior to the weekend’s clash with Liverpool but that didn’t come to pass, and with a new week beginning, Turkish outlet Fanatik (via Sport Witness appear to have simply rehashed their earlier claims – again stating that they have now agreed a 500,000 Euro deal and he’s expected to arrive in Istanbul over the coming week.

I usually get sceptical when reports simply rehash themselves to restate that a deal is, in effect, imminent, but this move would make sense for all parties really and we have to hope it goes through.
