Southampton is set to make striker Che Adams available for a move away from St Mary’s, according to reports.

The 23-year-old arrived at the club from Birmingham City last summer for £15m on a five-year contract. Sadly for Adams, his time on the South Coast has not gone as well as he would have hoped for, having failed to score from his first 27 appearances.

Despite having a successful stint at St Andrew’s, he has been unable to replicate that in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side and he may have made a decision on his future.

According to Football Insider, Adams will be made available for transfer as the fees of players continue to tumble with football currently suspended until further notice.

The report adds that the Saints have accepted they will not receive the £19m fee that was agreed with Leeds United or the initial fee that we paid Birmingham for his services.

Should Che Adams be sold?

Yes

No

This comes after the Championship leaders were heavily pursuing the striker back in January, with Southampton rejecting three bids after Marcelo Bielsa made him his number one target.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds will come back in for him when the 2019/20 concludes and the transfer window opens. Of course, it will depend on whether they achieve promotion to the Premier League and what their transfer budget is.

Despite Hasenhuttl previously advising that Adams was still in his plans, he has only started eight games, which may suggest the complete opposite. We require some quality that can match Danny Ings’ goalscoring tally. Unfortunately, Adams is not that man. Disappointing.
