With plenty of speculation linking Southampton Academy graduate Sam Gallagher with a departure from St Mary’s Stadium this summer, Blackburn Rovers have been a constant when it came to the summer transfer rumour mill.

New Club Joins Hunt For Southampton Academy Graduate – Talks Opened

Blackburn weren’t the only club linked with having an interest in the 23-year-old, as at various points Wigan Athletic and Brentford were suggested as potential destinations, but according to a report from the Daily Echo on Friday, Tony Mowbray’s side are now clearly in pole position for his services with claims that a £5million fee has now been agreed upon.

With it believed that personal terms have also been struck, the presumption is he’ll undergo his medical at Ewood Park tonight and potentially be announced as a new capture over the weekend.

With his successful loan spell previously at Blackburn, it’s no great surprise to see the lad return to them and there will be few Southampton fans who simply won’t wish him best for the future.
