Report Suggests Southampton Will Return For This Man With More Chance Of Success

|

It’s no great secret that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was chasing Birmingham City’s prolific striker Che Adams during the January transfer window.

Hasenhuttl basically admitted as much when speaking about who was on his shortlist for strengthening, but a fee couldn’t be agreed – albeit more down to the fact Birmingham knew there would likely be a points deduction during the 2018/19 campaign for Financial Fair Play breaches, and they needed the 22-year-old to continue performing and getting on the scoresheet so they could offset that and avoid relegation back to League One.

It seems their plan worked and the lad now has 22 goals in 47 appearances, and he’s also chipped in with four assists. They are pretty comfortably safe from the drop despite the EFL hitting them with a nine point deduction.

With Southampton’s own future now known following our six goal thriller with Bournemouth last weekend, the Daily Mail have reported this week that our interest in Adams remains as strong as ever, and over the summer our chances of doing a deal naturally significantly increase.

It’s fair to say there’s nothing groundbreaking in the Mail’s report, the information is well known and fans could’ve linked the dots themselves, but if Adams has been looking at potential suitors, he can’t have failed to be impressed with Hasenhuttl and the press he’s been receiving and that should be another feather in our cap.
