Today former Saints skipper Jason Dodd returned to the club as the new first team coach. Dodd, who resigned from his role as manager of Blue Square South side Eastleigh earlier this morning, replaces Glynn Snodin who recently joined West Ham.

Dodd, who became synonymous with the right back slot during his 16 years and 399 appearances for the club, was delighted to be back. He told the club`s official website, “It is wonderful to be back with Saints. Everyone knows how much the club means to me and I am thrilled to get this opportunity.”

He has also received a warm endorsement from fellow Saints legend, Matthew Le Tissier, who believes Dodd`s addition to the backroom staff at St. Mary`s will have benefits on and off the pitch. Le God said, “He will inject life and passion and leadership?the training ground will certainly be a lot noisier now!”. He also told the club`s website that “It will give the fans a lift too because he is Southampton through and through and it is good for them to have someone they can identify with.”

“Doddsy” will return to Eastleigh though on Saturday July 14th in Saints first pre-season match.
