Rickie has been chosen ahead of several other well known stars of the division. The former Bristol Rovers star joined Southampton last summer.

The frontman has managed to score 35 goals so far this season with two games to go before the season closes. But there is far more to his game than putting chances away.

Alan Pardew has been quoted as saying that he believes Rickie is the best frontman in the league. He has also said that Rickie can if he continues end up in the legendary status of the Channons, Paines and Le Tissiers.

Rickie Lambert is expected to be fully capable of taking the Saints all the way through to the Premiership. Only time will tell if that is feasable.

Le Tissier himself has been quoted as saying that Rickie can become a legend amongst the best if he stays and continues to perform at the standard he has set himself.

Coming from such a former great it bodes well for our immediate future. A future that us fans pray will include the man we have taken to our heart so readily.

This we have done because of the whole package. His targetman play in holding up the ball has been invaluable. The link-up play with others and chances that he makes on top of his goals, has all helped us over a poor start to the season. More than this he has given us hope for the future.

So from us at Vital we would like to add our congratulations.
