Rickie – We Should Have Won

Rickie Lambert was disappointed with his own wasteful finishing against Everton, because he knows he did everything else required of him in the game.

Speaking to the Daily Echo after the game, our talisman said.

‘It was a good point, but we’re disappointed not to get the three, especially from the first half. We played some really good football and I should have put at least one, maybe two, away, so I’m disappointed personally I haven’t put one in the back of the net. But it’s well played again and defensively we were solid I thought.’

Lambert was also asked about the off pitch influences this week, and very professionally replied that the players were glad to be back on the pitch, doing what they are paid to do.

‘A footballer’s place is on the pitch. Once you go on there you forget about everything else and that’s what we’re done. We tried to get a win, it wasn’t to be, but it was a good performance.’

Very well sad. No doubt some players feel Adkins’ departure a bit harder than others, but the bottom line is they have a job to do on the pitch regardless of anything else that goes on, and they did that last night, so all credit to them.
